The content creator trap

If your content doesn't lead to clients, you're wasting time.

I remember when I started my journey, I was so excited to make money, I mean after watching a lot of Dan Koe videos and other creators I decided to follow on this journey.

The problem?

I fell into the X trap.

Most beginner creators fall into this trap, and even big creators (those with large followings) are in it.

I was consistent in creating content, but I got nowhere close to my clients. The funny fact is that I made friends with a larger following at that time.

They were good at writing unlike me, they used to get a lot of views, but even so, they weren't to monetize.

And I see many creators and people who are on X, falling for this same trap, creating content that leads nowhere to clients.

You should of course be consistent, and give time for your input to work

but if you're being consistent with the wrong things you'll be running in circles like I did.

Spending time with countless tasks, like “engaging” and “DM for connection”, thinking that will eventually lead to getting clients.

But, It was constantly frustrating, I was running in circles, wasting hours increasing volume so maybe, I could get clients, because that's our main goal on X.

Don't lie, you're not on X to be “authentic” and “enjoy” the process, stop putting this loser belief in your mind because you'll never be close to monetizing with this mindset, you'll only create content, and gain followers but get 0 clients.

I love creating content, I love being authentic, and I enjoy the process, but I also want money, because without it, I can’t create more content, and develop as a person.

Don’t get me wrong.

But why does this happen?

There are countless reasons why these things happen, 3 of the most common are:

1: You're not posting the right content

2: You're not seen as an authority

3: You're not focusing on the levelers

so if you want to get your first client, all you have to do is fix these 3 problems, here's how I did, and was able to monetize and help my client get his first $150 on X (as a beginner in 30 days)

1 — Creating content for your ICP

The first step, I made a mistake on, was not knowing who I was talking to.

You have to have an idea of who is your ICP you don't need to create avatars and all of this professional stuff because your goal here is you.

The niche is you don't forget that.

But, you have to know, is your avatar a beginner?

Cool.

If he is, what is his status, do you have any idea of his followers or any specific details?

If you don't research what you have achieved and what you can teach

After that, you need to use yourself as content.

How did you solve that problem?

How did you overcome that difficulty?

So all you have to do, as you are writing a journal for yourself,

and all of this shouldn't be complicated or too technical unless you have an editing agency or design business. Where you truly want to specify who should be your avatar.

2 — Go Beyond the basics

You are supposed to go beyond the basics to make progress and to be seen as an authority.

You should post content that will lend you authority, leverage, and growth.

If you can't manage to do that, everything else will become pointless.

So go beyond the basics,

Don't show up every day

Engage every day

and post 3 times a day.

Find out, how you can improve between the basics and what you can do differently without reinventing the wheel.

That's how you'll become an authority because you'll be authentic and different from everybody else's.

3: Focusing on levelers

There are tons of tasks to do while creating content.

Newsletter, lead magnets, design, engaging, dm, getting on calls…

And I used to get lost in the beginning, what should I focus on?

I used to try to do them all, but there was a problem, I was focused on the wrong things.

Yes, I could engage, and do everything that I listed, but, there should be priorities, and if possible, it's better to double down priorities rather than do everything and not make sense in the end.

Question yourself, what are the tasks that will push your business forward?

Focus on

With these 3 things, I could escape beginner's hell, follow a journey I can enjoy, and make money. It's important to know the reason you're creating content.

Some people do it for fun or practice, others to monetize…

Know your reason and act accordingly.
